Cyanotype todayThe techniques seems to have found a devoted following since utilitarian blueprints were largely replaced by digital means. cyanotypes have become an alternative process- a mode of photography no longer dominant or useful in the mainstream, but interesting for it visual appearance or technological challenge.
For photographers who have only known digital photography, the relatively quick and inexpensive cyanotype carries some of the wonder of the first photographs. it can be created outdoors, in the sun, and with any support that will absorb or hold the chemicals, such as fabric wood and leather. Artists have found that Cyanotypes can be away of incorporating both traditional and digital processes in their work, using digital images printed on to acetates or half tones to create large scale negatives to produce the cyanotype. |
